An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a particular Internet site. Any file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have one webpage with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log normally contains the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. Oftentimes you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your site. The information an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to write reports on the overall performance of an Internet site, independent of the web stats that your hosting server may have generated.

Access Log Manager in Web Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia CP features a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your web hosting account and visit this section, you'll find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. If the option is active, you shall see a download link and also the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your PC and look at it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you don't need one, you'll be able to stop it with a click from the same exact section of the Control Panel. You'll still have the ability to access the already created content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your sites inside a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will have the option to trigger or disable the generation of access logs with just a couple of mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You'll find this function in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start producing logs is one click on the On button that you'll see there. The feature can be triggered independently for any site no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you will find a complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with a click and you could then see it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation could be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your Control Panel.
